Garnacha

Garnacha is one of the most representative and emblematic grape varieties of Aragon, with a history deeply rooted in this region of northeastern Spain.

The relationship between Garnacha and Aragon is not only a reflection of the area’s winemaking heritage, but also an example of how a grape variety can thrive in its natural environment and become a symbol of identity and quality.

Garnacha is believed to have originated in Aragon, with its cultivation dating back to the Middle Ages. From this region, the variety spread to other parts of Spain, as well as France and Italy. Despite its international expansion, Aragon remains the cradle of Garnacha and today is home to some of the oldest vineyards of this variety in the world, many of which are over a century old.
